Lowered Expectations

July, 2005

The perfect church of gods would, of course, have the name "Church of God" embedded in it, but beyond that there are a few characteristics which would make it perfect. Among these would be keeping the Sabbath for certain and the Holydays. As for the Holydays, the calendar would have to be a reasonable one which has not been contaminated by postponements which are man made and certainly would be divorced from the error introduced by the Jews at the time of Hillel II by miscalculating how long a month was: Off by only a minute or so a month, over the centuries has put the Jewish Calendar off by 17 days, so the Spring Equinox is accounted to be April 7 / 8, which is wrong, seeing as how the Spring Equinox is really March 20 / 21 or somewhere like that. The Jews know it is wrong, will admit that it is wrong and have publicly announced that they will fix it as soon as a new Sanhedrin gets around to it. So much for relying on the Jews for the Oracles of God. A perfect church of gods would realize that they were now the Oracles of God and go forth and figure out a calendar for themselves based on the Bible and not on the word of Jews who knowingly admit they are wrong and can't wait to fix it. The major church of gods have picked the one and only calendar you can actually prove is wrong by Scriptural standards. The other seven in use sort of, kind of, make a certain sense from a point of view--but the one with postponements is the only one that is clearly wrong. If you are going to do something, you might as well do it right.

Maybe there is no way to tell for certain which calendar one should use by Biblical Standards, but the perfect church of gods will certainly stumble upon the correct one. One thing of which we may be sure, that the perfect church certainly would not adopt the one and only current calendar in general use by the church of gods approved by the Jews which is clearly and provably wrong.

Certainly, in keeping the Sabbath, the people of the perfect church of gods would not be eating out in restaurants on the Sabbath to make people serve them personally for money in direct rebellion to the Fourth Commandment which makes provision for the manservant, the maidservant and includes the stranger in the midst of the congregation as well as even the cattle! To go out and break the Sabbath in this manner is a direct contradiction of the Commandments and would certainly invoke much rending of garments and coverings of sackcloth replete with generous smudges of ashes, amongst people like Ezra and Nehemiah who were determined not to go back into captivity for doing such things in violating God's Law--so much so that they locked the gates of the city before sunset on Friday and gave stern warnings to merchants outside the gates. One wonders how church of gods justify being catered to on a Holyday by merchants today. The perfect church of gods would never do that, realizing as it were, that you cannot consistently mix the Old Covenant with the New without accepting the Law in its totality as delivered at Mount Sinai by God. Not only is it inconsistent, but it makes no sense: You might as well throw the whole Law out and not even bother to keep the Sabbath and Holydays in the pretense of hypocrisy, which is what the existing church of gods has done pretty much anyway.

So now we have lost about 97.5% of the church of gods, but from here, we will keep looking for that perfect church of gods which is not only mythical but may never exist. The next big item is British Israelism which, in any form, is irredeemably fallacious, totally discredited and intellectually indefensible. It is worse than that. Since the 1990s, DNA has proved that the Jews and Europeans do not have a common father, while the Jews, Arabs and Jordanians do--provably. But we can apply another standard: The church of gods go to the Jews for the Calendar, why don't they go to the Jews for advice about British Israelism. That's the logical thing to do, is it not? You can't really have one without the other. If the Jews are the keepers of the Oracles of God, one would think that this is a real biggie, and they'd want the truth. We already know what the Jews think about this: The United States is a Gentile Nation. Period. No discussion. So now we have lost 100% of the church of gods. The rest is just icing.

"Hear O Israel, God is one God". In the ideal perfect church of gods, there would be One True God. There wouldn't be a Binatarian God. God is One God, not two. The perfect church of gods would have read the book of Hebrews and understood. Christ was created. He is the son of God. Furthermore, He created all things through Christ. That's what the book of Hebrews says. That means that he created Satan. Satan is not a brother to Christ. In fact, if one believes Ezekiel 28, Satan's fate is to be made a mortal man and killed off to remain dead forever--there will be no Great White Throne Judgment for him. The Devil has had his chance and already tasted the spiritual--there is no renewal of repentance for him and no sacrifice. You'd have to do quite a lot of Scripture twisting to make things come out any other way.

Jesus is quoted in Matthew 7:15 as saying "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." Furthermore, Hebrews 1:1-2 makes it plain that Jesus is that prophet after which we should not be looking for another: "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;". Modern prophets who prophesy lies and make false prophecies would not be found at all in the perfect church of gods and would be rejected as being false prophets. People would recognize them for the ravening wolves they are and would reject them. Of course, most of the modern false prophets in the church of gods made their failed predictions on flawed foundation of British Israelism and hence extend its discreditation as being not only unviable, but actually destructive--particularly to nominal Christians who embrace its terrible precepts of the prospects for death, destruction, devastation. The perfect church of gods would reject the prophecies and the prophets in an instant and never give credence to one word they say, let alone pay them for their lies and deceptions.

The qualifications of a minister in the perfect church of gods would be found in I Timothy 3. He would be blameless and have a good report in the community as well. There would be no whispering about his mental illness, his immorality and there would be no civil court cases on record on the Internet reflecting his military medical record resulting from a pursuit of greed to get additional money for his supposed military injuries, nor would it have a record of him firing on his own troops. Such a qualified minister would be truthful and not double tongued nor given to much wine--or for that matter an excess of red meat for the heme protein, nor would he be a slanderer, committing open anonymous character assassination over the Internet when he was caught in his lies. He would obey the laws of the land by not taking tithe money from non-profit accounts and having them transferred directly into his credit card account. He would not teach that no one should tithe in the seventh year land Sabbath only to recant his position when challenged by someone who has actually read Malachi 2 and restate his position with deceptions claiming that "the simple and erroneous" don't understand. Baloney. We understand all too well about lying narcissists and psychopaths setting up church corporate. While we may not be a part of the perfect church of gods, we certainly recognize a con man when we see one and resoundingly reject him, particularly considering his military medical record which makes it perfectly clear that he has at best a flawed personality and also considering his current behaviors of lying to his own membership. No, the perfect church of gods would only consider those of upstanding morals and ethics to defend the Faith of Jesus Christ as an Intelligent Warrior equipped with both faith and the IQ to complement the faith.

The perfect church of gods would be patient and tolerant, allowing people to make their own decisions, even if they are wrong, but instantly put to death any behavior which is illegal, immoral and unethical, in order to protect and preserve the church of gods. There would be no adultery of the ministers, for--even if it were done in secret--one must consider that the sin of Achan was done in secret and resulted in the death of Israelites. Secret sins would neither be tolerated nor remain secret. Those who did not bear the fruit of repentance would be put out as commanded by the Bible no matter who they were to show love for the sinner and protect the congregation. It would not matter who the person was, even if the minister. Break the law and go to jail--with the full support of the congregation. In fact, the entire congregation would run things and not be run by a dictatorial despot false prophet from the top down in an hierarchical form of "government". The congregations would agree amongst themselves and form consensus, not to be overridden by those who assume power for themselves to cast out the righteous. The perfect church of gods would cast out those who commit adultery, child molestation, stalkers, fondlers, fornicators and would even go so far as never to even eat with them as the Scripture dictates.

The ministers would actually minister to the needs of the people. They would care for those who are in need and comfort those who need comforting. They would not abuse people by neglecting them, assaulting them and telling them that their family's mentally ill member is their problem and not that of the church's. They would not seek to serve themselves and make members serve them. Christ was not a rich construction worker flush with money, living a life that suited him at his convenience, using his disciples to validate his personality disorders, and neither should anyone who claims to be his minister. The perfect church of gods would have a minister who would actually minister and not sit around writing articles about "servant leadership". He'd be too busy doing it. When was the last time you had the minister visit you in your affliction? Or have you over to dinner? Unless you are the elite, rather than the ones who like actually need help, it isn't likely you ever have.

The perfect church of gods would teach sound doctrines--solid ones with which no one could really argue. Sound doctrines such as those dealing with

There wouldn't really be much meandering into speculative eschatology. Just solid simple doctrines which have relevance and lead to a good long term result. This would severely contrast the kinds of hot air generated by empty headed twits who can't even get their pretty empty balloons of nonsense up into the air any more.

A perfect church of gods would keep their promises and commitments without reneging on them when it was inconvenient to keep them. If the church was promised local boards, they'd stick with it, even if they don't really believe that Christians are mature enough to make decisions by themselves and believe that everyone needs to be treated like stupid children. On second thought, a perfect church of gods wouldn't believe that mature Christians are stupid illegitimate children who have to have every step controlled and every activity spied on to make sure it was done right because they would have the faith and trust in the members that God already has in them by virtue of the fact that He called them and has promised to finish the work that He started. Members would actually esteem others as having equality--different but equal, with an appreciation that the other could do things with spiritual gifts unique to them. Everyone would have a place and a say with great respect. Their word would be their bond and it would be an environment where everyone could trust everyone else without reservation or justified  paranoia. The ministry of the perfect church of gods would exhibit fear and honor to God by showing proper respect for those called to do the work God wants them to do and to realize that if they don't show the proper respect for the Spiritual Gifts God has given His people, they just might not like how those same Spiritual Gifts are used very much.

Let's face it. We all make mistakes and do stupid things. A perfect church of gods would have a congregation which would be able to discern spirits to the extent that they would know whether a person was still on track or not. They would also admit when the church was totally wrong and make it right without sophisticated cover ups and outright deception to make their wrong doing "go away" or claiming in spewing hyperbole that the "simple and erroneous" simply did not understand, when, in fact, they did quite clearly understand the evil of the narcissistic unrepentant leadership. The righteous would not be offered on the altar of public opinion to cover for the mystic machinations of the clearly demonic.

The congregation of the perfect church would study II Timothy 3 to ascertain of whom it is speaking when the the Apostle Paul says, "In the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:". The congregation would follow the simple command intended to preserve a godly life: "from such turn away". No questions, reasonings, equivocations--simply rejection.

Oh sure, people make mistakes, but in the perfect church of gods, there would latitude for the kinds of difficulties free choice always brings from time to time. Tolerance and mercy would be tempered by justice and judgment, taking into account lessons learned. Those who have had experience, learned their lessons and are living righteously would actually be respected and consulted for their example. Those who have overcome particular problems would be honored for their knowledge and wisdom. Politics would not exist.

Good works would exist. The perfect church would be transparent without hiding their failings while trumpeting their successes. It would provide adequate financial statements [ones which would pass an audit--a real audit and not one by Arthur Andersen]. The organization would tell the truth. It would not be Christian in name only, dedicated to providing a luxurious lifestyle to the leadership gaining ascendancy as church corporate ladder climbers. It would be true to its theological underpinnings and stay the course without changing major doctrines when a leader dies. There will be obvious fruit of their labors. They won't just be the "headset church of God". It would not be all talk, but would accomplish great benefits to society at large, even if small. There would be no odd aspects to the ministry. There's no such thing as a narcissistic Christian. There would be no being embroiled in lawsuits.

The ministry would not be unrealistic, nor would there be a hint of manipulating Scripture nor would there be a reliance upon extra Biblical Revelations. People would receive real spiritual benefits and would enjoy peace along with a measure of prosperity, but the ministers would not manipulate people's losses, grief, sadness, and despair for their own benefit. They would comfort the people in need, to their own first and to their families and then to the rest of the world as they were able. Care for people spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically would supersede questions of eschatology and purity of obscure doctrinal issues. Moreover, no one would have to have scorecards to know who had which rank: The perfect church would work as a unit without having to care who had preeminence over whom. In short, the ministers would be helping and serving, rather than being celebrities.

Men would help out with the cooking, preparation and cleanup, rather than sitting around in their little group ignoring the children, treating the women as second class citizens, as if they were Scottish Rite Masons. They would not be using their multiple translations of the Bible, concordances and Bible commentaries, spending hours on end discussing the meanings of Eloha, Elohim and Adonai. Concern would be genuine and not an intellectual curiosity. The membership would seek the well-being of all, even the mentally ill among them. They would respect their public leaders--after all, it is a difficult job these days--and pray for them that there may be peace. They might even visit those in prison from time to time both comforting them and setting an example which might take root some day. They would also assuredly visit the fatherless and the widow in their affliction to practice undefiled pure religion.

Everything would be done in a decent orderly fashion, well-planned and executed, without a trace of chaos and frenetic demands for more resources because of sloppy workmanship and because there was no time to plan, only time to do things over. In the perfect church of gods, perception is not reality and the end does not justify the means. Those in the church would seek reality and set aside distorted perception while realizing that the process to the end is the important part of building character.

The perfect church of gods would actually follow Jesus Christ in his example of doing good works. It would obey God without dissimulation, with humility and without the leavened bread of hypocrisy. It would be going on to perfection until every spot and wrinkle were ironed out without excuses. They would actually believe God exists, that He is great above all other gods and act accordingly without idolatry. In short, the perfect church of gods would actually know God.

In short, the other church of gods would find the perfect church boring with nothing really to gossip about. Although the doctrines themselves would be somewhat controversial, the lack of anything to gossip about, the lack of guile and betrayal would make the perfect church of gods more appalling than appealing to the membership of the other churches. The perfect church would be so peaceful it would be boring and bear no interest in the minds of the current church of gods attendees. There would be no prophecy filled with hyperbole. There would be no juicy crimes to discuss. There would be no extreme personality disorders of the ministry to discuss. There would be no scandal. There would be no explanations for why there is so much bad news in The Good News because there wouldn't be any bad news. There would be nothing interesting in the thoroughly converted membership or the solid doctrines of truth. People would be quietly healed. Favor would fall from heaven as sunlight on a pleasantly warm sunny spring day. There would be no controversy. All would be agreed within. People would have solutions to their problems and be comforted up until the solutions were provided. There would be an overflowing joy with peace from faith, hope and love accompanied with justice, judgment and mercy. There would be nothing but a balanced life devoid of extremes.

It would be totally ignored.

There's so much more we could say about what the perfect church of god should look like, but as an exercise into futile fantasy, we will stop here, for, it is very clear, that we will simply have to accept the insanity and stupidity with which we have been burdened and accept lowered expectations.
