The Painful Truth About The Worldwide Church of God
Remove the Biblical Pacifier
Sayings Of The Sages

 Quotes and Quips

I like quotes. Especially from the masters of old. Their works are products of deeper thinking and of much more superior intellect that is currently spun by the pedantic pundits of today's society. Especially in the field of religion where they dare not exit the baby pool, lest they stray into wisdom way over their heads.

Whereas some masterful works present a deeper insight, are longer, require more study and are more "meatier," their quotes are short, clever, educational, and mentally stimulating. I liken them to short "work-outs" for the brain. They convey wisdom, logic, reason, philosophy and much truth. I discovered this after draining the residual vestiges of Armstrong excrement from my mind. Suddenly realizing, like the guy in the commercial slapping his forehead and saying, "Man! I coulda had a V-8!"

So to all who think we who contribute to the Painful Truth are nothing but a bunch of bitter bible bashing, anti-religious, prevaricating heretics, I say, dare to be bold. Be aware that most of us are in total accord with many respected and reputable thinkers of the past, and a few in the present.

Remove your biblical pacifier for the moment and give your mind a much needed "work-out" by reading and contemplating what is presented below. Exercise the other part of your brain that your clergy has clamped in a vice. Who knows? It may instill within you a desire to take your first step out of the baby pool. Into the one-foot depth of the conventional pool representing "Reason," then eventually a plunge into the 12 foot depth of "Wisdom."

 Herewith are some selected quotes with quips I deem appropriate;

"Here is every Thing which can lay hold of the Eye, Ear, and Imagination. Every Thing which can charm and bewitch the simple and ignorant. I wonder how Luther ever broke the spell."----John Adams Oct. 9, 1774). (And how Herbie can still keep some spellbound).

"The trouble with born-again Christians is that they are an even bigger pain the second time around."---Herb Caen (Example--"The Worldwide Church of Tkach").

"The first and last lesson of religion is, 'The things that are seen are temporal; the things that are unseen are eternal.' It puts an affront upon nature." -Ralph. W. Emerson (It is also an insult to God's Creation).

"Religion, like water, may be free, but when they pipe it to you, you've got to help pay for the piping. And the piper!" -Abigail Van Buren--Dear Abby (In our cases, the piping was main-lined to the pervert).

"My own introduction to the unspeakable depths to which human beings can sink was not made through theaters, uncensored billboards, or evil minded companions, but solely through an unrestricted access to my sainted grandmother's Bible."---Charles Flandrau (Gimme that old slime religion!).

"God will not look you over for medals, degrees, or diplomas, but for scars." -Elbert Hubbard (He won't have to look hard to find ours).

"Formal religion was organized for slaves: it offered them consolation which earth did not provide." -Elbert Hubbard (You're gonna be Kings and Priests in the World Tomorrow!).

"Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more that half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon, than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness, that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind." -Thomas Paine--The Age of Reason (Scott Ashley, UCG managing editor of its "Good News" has just released Bible Lesson #1 titled "Why the Bible is the Word of God." In an inset on page 2 he states; "The Bible reveals great truths that, when comprehended, can transform your life in ways you've never imagined." Oh, Yeah! We never imagined it would be for the worst. Why did we ever fall for that shit?? And whose God is he talking about?)

"Take away from Genesis the belief that Moses was the author, on which only the strange belief that it is the word of God has stood, and there remains nothing of Genesis but an anonymous book of stories, fables, and tradition or invented absurdities, or of downright lies." -Thomas Paine (Hey, Scott, Analyze This!)

"I have often expressed my sentiments, that every man, conducting himself as a good citizen, and being accountable to God alone for his religious opinions, ought to be protected in worshipping the Deity according to the dictates of his own conscience." -George Washington (Spoken by the father of our country about the Father of us all).

I hope these quotes will help, in some small way, the undecided or unsure to make the right decision. Have the courage of your own convictions, and not your minister's. His job and his pay depend upon keeping the herd in check, and to keep his checks coming. Your life, your mind, and your soul are governed by a false doctrine. You are forced to follow the dictates of the clergy who wield a fallible book as "The Word of God" over your head and threaten you with "the lake of fire" if you stray. Remember, over 40,000 of us went through the same harrowing ordeals. We know whereof we speak. But now that we have control of our own lives and minds, and free to think, we are discovering that the entire religious system is based on the people's fear of the hereafter and what the bible portends for those who don't obey the biblical "Word of God."

If you study the history and background of Christianity and the origin of the bible, plus, what accomplished authors say about religion, you will come to realize it is nothing more than a paper tiger.

Religion is big business. Its purpose is not to aim you towards the Almighty. Its purpose is to relieve you of the Almighty Dollar and aim you toward welfare.

I believe this final quote sums it all up; it is the opening paragraph of Chapter 14 titled Tragic America from Theodore Dreiser's book, "The Church and Wealth in America."

"I decry the power of the Church and its use of that power, in America in particular! Throughout the world, as all know, the churches are so organized as to have the wealth, size and formation of a great corporation, a government, or an army. And in America, the wealthy individuals who rule in corporate affairs appear to be attracted to the church by reason of its hold not only on the mind but the actions of its adherents. Politically, socially, and otherwise, they count on its power and influence as of use to them. And not without reason, (notice) since especially among the ignorant and poor, its revealed wisdom counsels resignation and orders faith in a totally inscrutable hereafter. In short, it makes for ignorance and submission in the working class. And what more could a corporation-minded government or financial group, looking toward complete control of everything for a few, desire?" (nuff said).

So when you criticize the Painful Truth and can only base your argument on convoluted scriptures, you prove the sages' point. And since we all are in agreement with them, you are totally out-classed, outsmarted, and out of your league. You are not qualified to prove your point. Stay in the baby pool. Remain a neophyte in a sea of logic, knowledge, reason and reality.
