Very interesting interview. Sadly I would say that it seems Mr. Meredith was more balanced at the time of the interview. The statements he has made of late shows his shift towards loudly proclaiming that LCG is the ONLY split, and that he is not willing to coordinate any events with UCG (even when they occupy the SAME CITY for the Feast as for this year).

The reader has a short memory, during the Asian tsunami, the UCG and CGI donated funds. Then there is Viktor Kubik from LifeNets (www.lifenets.org) helping the disadvantaged and less fortunate with practical help. The Adventists also have very good welfare assistance programmes for the needy.

This is just soundbites, whilst it is true that more can be done, and there is never enough, COGS have donated to charity in the past. As I mentioned above some of the COG and Adventist groups do have programmes. And if you spend time like I have by visiting most links on the Journal webpage, you will see a variation of CoG groups offering assistance to groups in Africa, or Asia.

I can understand that you feel frustrated but there are many things we can do individually if we fail to see them happening in our community or church.

One UCG congregation in the UK used to raise money and send it to a different charity every month.

Because we don't see in your face giving doesn't mean it is not happening.

After reading this interview, I'm so happy God pulled me out of the WWCG!! And I'm so happy now that I don't have any affiliations with any of it's people or off-shoots.
One thing that always seems to be lacking among current and former WWCG people is that you never hear anything about "doing unto others...". Nothing about charity or helping people less fortunate. When you are talking about spending $1 million dollars on "preaching the gospel" while people in your backyard are devastated, clotheless, and hungry...how do you REALLY think God views You? Come on! Every sentence I have read in the Bible, Jesus is overwhelmingly concerned with the physical welfare of people first.
Didn't Jesus say MANY would come to Him in the end and say Lord, Lord...and His response to them will be , essentially, "get lost"?

I remember too well one of those Global "servant leadership" ministerial conferences. We were all given handouts photocopied from a book on Servant Leadership. This much was fine. But I also remember Dr. Meredith speaking to the men of his "visiting program," saying, "We need to get into their homes to see them where they live." I remember being taken aback at the KGB character of this unique brand of servanthood. Would God that men of this ilk never find occasion to serve me with their prying visits.

It might be worth re-reading the jaw-dropping letter Larry Salyer wrote after Global's Board terminated Meredith. Amazing, isn't it, that so many men, including HWA, saw Meredith one way, and Meredith saw himself another? Perhaps Meredith personally focuses on his good points (he has many); and the egregious traits only irritate those who have to put up with him.

Rod Meredith didn't win very many people over with that approach, did he? And he and his followers never could figure out why. They're still baffled by it to this day ... check out the second comment in this thread.

Why, oh why, didn't all those departing WCG members flock to Global. Why did they form UCG, form living room churches of god, or just chuck it all? How could they do those things, when Rod and Global were right there waiting for them.

It's probably Satan's fault, I reckon.

Actually, the responses in that interview were the only kind of answers Rod COULD give. His mindset would allow no others. And his mindset is clear to all who read it, and is the reason Global attracted very few members and has since stagnated.

As a former member of Global and Living COG’s I Find it rather amazing that RCM has not changed at all. Sure, his talk is about change but never implements it. When it comes to RCM government I will let you in on a little secrete. You see RCM wrote one version of Government in Global for recruitment and wrote an entire different one of implementation for Living. In Living as far as government goes, I thought I was in a Catholic Church. One of the main reason I left Living was that RCM had pronoun problems that is to say He talked more about him then he ever did about Christ.

You want to know why God busted up the COG’s it was simply because the left Christ completely out of their religion and only look to the Mosaic Law. Yes the occasionally they talk of Christ with their lips but their heart was far from Him.

RCM is doing the same thing as HWA and HWA was the same thing to the WCG as the Pope is to the RCC.

Claiming to be the appointed man, by Christ himself, to be the head of the CoG.

I bet that, when the RCCoG votes on a new Pope of the RCCoG, RCM won't even be nominated.

Folks should realize that even in its heyday, WCG was only a tiny, oddball, goofy, fringe cult of make believe Christendom to the outside world.
